Burma was community located on the north side of the of Neuse river. Active in 1911, it was apparently near Gaskins’ Schoolhouse and Free Union Schoolhouse. Numerous McLawhorns and some Whitfords lived in the area. Mentioned in New Bern Weekly Journal, July 25 and 28, 1911 “Burma Items”.
